Angela Kearns is a South Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Webster University and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from the College of Charleston.
Throughout her training Angela has focused on providing evidence-based treatment to adults and adolescents, including treatment for trauma, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. Angela's clinical experience includes working in both inpatient and outpatient treatment centers for adults with substance use disorders and dual diagnoses. Angela also has experience as an advocate with survivors of sexual trauma with Tri-County S.P.E.A.K.S and Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center.
In addition to clinical work, Angela has over ten years of experience in psychological, sociological, and psychiatric research, publishing peer-reviewed journal articles regarding addiction, empathy, memory, sex, and trauma.
INTENSIVE DBT TRAINING
Dialectical Behavior Therapy Post Masters Skills Training Fellowship
April 2023 – ongoing
CDBTA’s fellowship program combines intensive training, mentorship, peer consultation and hands-on clinical work. The program is designed to enhance clinical competencies in DBT treatment and prepares clinicians for national certification. CDBTA fellows learn from specialists in the field by participating in DBT consultation team, mentorship discussions, learning activities and individual supervision. Fellows apply their learning by co- facilitating DBT Skills Training Groups and providing therapy to a small number of clients.
